ADVENT SUNDAY Advent is the beginning
of the Church Year for most churches in the Western tradition. It
begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas day, which is the Sunday
nearest November 30, and ends on Christmas Eve. If Christmas Eve
is a Sunday, it is counted as the fourth Sunday of Advent. Beginning
of Advent this year is November 27 when we also decorate the Sanctuary
which is commonly referred to as "A Service for the Hanging
of the Christmas Green". This is accomplished as we await with
watchfulness and increasing joy as the birth of Jesus approaches.
We light a candle that is placed on a round wreath, the wreath symbolizing
eternity of life without end, and the candles remind us that Jesus
is the light of the world. We light a candle on each of the four
Sundays of Advent. As the light grows, so does our anticipation and
joy.
Sunday School 9:30 a.m.
Classes and locations are listed on the Main Page.
Are You Ready For The Final Exam?
Most everyone would agree that Sunday School is important
for our children. But remember, adults, Sunday School is the one
school that no one ever graduates from. Sunday School is something
that we should all take more seriously and make a priority. Join
us this Sunday and study for the final.
Sunday Morning Service at 10:30 a.m.
After a few hymns and a time of greeting your neighbor,
a communion mediation will be offered and the communion trays will
be passed to those desiring to partake. As is our custom, we hold
the loaf and cup and partake in unison. Following the communion,
offering plates will be passed through the congregation. Please do
not feel embarrassed, this is our way of receiving the tithes and
offerings each week. The scripture text for the sermon is read, then
a prayer followed by the sermon.
